Sometimes a dog will come into our lives needing our help more than we could ever imagine. Often times, we also need them more than we know. Poquito Taquito, or Paco, as his friends know him, is an adorable Pomeranian-Shih Tzu mix who desperately needed a helping hand when his life took a turn for the worse.

At the age of 15, Paco found himself scared and alone, tied up with his older brother at a park. Paco was in desperate need of helping hand, and thankfully one woman spotted the two elderly dogs and rescued them, taking them to the animal shelter so they could get the help they needed. When they arrived at the shelter, they were so happy to find that Paco had a microchip and could be reunited with his family.

Sadly, Paco’s owner told them that she had abandoned the two dogs there, as she could not help them. Paco was old, deaf, going blind, and suffering from a severe heart murmur that had caused his lungs to fill up with fluid. His owner surrendered Paco to the shelter, officially, knowing she could not help him any longer.

With a bit of veterinary care, Paco’s health problems cleared right up. Although he is still deaf and going blind because of his age, his lungs are no longer filling up with fluids; he was then placed for adoption. Paco was adopted but was quickly returned because the family’s other dog was not a big fan of Paco, leaving Paco in need of help once more.

Paco’s Guardian Angel saw his plight and knew he desperately needed a helping hand, so she sent a savior to him at the shelter. Becca, a Vet Tech student, immediately fell in love with the 15-year-old senior, when she saw him in the shelter for the first time, and took him home that same day. Paco got his happily-ever-after, living with his adoring new owner and his new canine sibling, Luna, where he’s been doted on ever since.
