Pavin Smith recently signed on to the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team after being the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft. At only 21 years old, he’s accomplished quite a lot, and we’re sure it’s only the beginning. He credits his success to God, and the love and support of his family, especially his parents.

When he got his first-ever check after signing on to work with the Diamondbacks, including a $5 million bonus, he decided it was time to give something back. At first, he couldn’t decide how best to thank his family for all that they had done for him. As Christmas rolled around, however, he found the perfect way to thank them for everything, and it left everyone shocked.

When his parents unwrapped their gift on Christmas, they were shocked to find the deed to their family home. Rather than blowing the money on fancy cars or expensive dinners, he spent the money paying off his parent’s mortgage! His parents were brought to tears as they read the note he left inside.

The note included a poem by Robert William Service, a personal note explaining the gift, “Thank you for raising me in a great home filled with love. Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be YOURS… so I am paying off your mortgage.” The family was shocked by his loving gift, but it’s not out of character for this wonderful guy to do caring things for his adoring family.

With many more years to come, we’re sure that Pavin’s life is going to be full of joy and happiness. Caring and loving men like him are sure to change the world for the better. With his family by his side, there’s nothing young Pavin can’t do, and we can’t wait to see where his life takes him.
