If you’ve ever gone through a remodel, then you know that it can be a long and laborious process. There are so many plans that need to be made, so many people involved, and many times; things will inevitably go astray. And when you add kids to the mix, the remodeling experience can get even more interesting.
When the Millaway Family in Tennessee decided to remodel their basement, they reached out to one of the local contractors. He had been known for his detailed and impeccable work. They were hoping for a fully-functional living space in the basement. The first task, which was deemed the most important was pouring cement for a good foundation. The contractor, Jonathan Porter, and his crew started the job. Of course, they laid the cement flawlessly.
Jonathan let the owners know that the work was done and that he would be back to check on it in a few hours. Knowing that the job was well done, he didn’t even give a second thought to the fact that cement was drying; he went about his usual business and after checking on other properties, headed back to the Millaway Residence. When he returned, he was speechless.
He walked down to the basement, and his jaw dropped. There were tiny footprints looping around the basement floor! Jonathan had no idea what in the world was happening and even rubbed his eyes to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him! He ran over to another spot in the basement, hoping that vantage point would be clear of little footprints. He had first assumed that an animal had gotten loose; he began to wonder what in the world had made the footprints.
Then, without too much time to conclude exactly had made it’s a way all through the basement, Jonathan’s eyes met a very confused little face; two-year-old Izzadora was the perpetrator of the tiny footprints. The two stared at each other for a second and them immediately, Johnathan burst out in laughter. "I looked, and about 25 feet away from me, I see this child standing dead center,'' he shared. “She had a look of awe on her face like she didn’t know what to do.”
When Jonathan saw Izzadora, she was somewhat frightened, so he called her over to him. She made her way over and with little baby footprints trailing behind her, and made her way back to dry land- literally! Izzadora shared that she was looking for her parents when she wandered down to the basement. Obviously, she didn’t know that the floor was new, expensive, and wet - she just wanted her parents!
When Jonathan called the parents down, they, too, were speechless! Of course, they were all laughing - but how could they not?! With her adorable adventure through wet cement, Izzadora had unexpectedly given everyone a story to remember! Jonathan and his team adjusted the floor but kept a portion of the footprints as a memento of the silly mishap of the innocent two-year-old. We are so happy the family saw this as a funny memory. Kids are the best!
