A mother's love is unconditional. No matter what happens in life, a mother will always go above and beyond for the well-being of her young. Unfortunately, there are situations in which a mother does not take her role as seriously as she should, leaving her young to fend for themselves.

If they are abandoned at a young enough age, they often won't survive. A mother's job is to teach her young the ropes of life and to nurse them until they are old enough to find their own food. Without her assistance, they are rendered helpless and their chance of surviving drops drastically.

This little piglet knows this unfortunate situation all too well. Her mother had abandoned her, leaving her to fend for herself. She was so teeny and helpless that she was on the verge of death when she was found. Who took her in, though, was the most surprising part of all.

After a loving family found her, an eight-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback dog named Katjinga immediately came to her side. Katjinga fell in love with the helpless little piglet. Katjinga was a mother herself, so it only came naturally for her to treat this little orphaned piglet as her own.

The piglet, now named Paulichen, never thought it strange that her new mother was a different species. Despite having a rough go at the beginning of her life, she now was experiencing a life she could never have imagined!

She was looking for love and found it in the most unlikely character of all. Since she hadn't experienced true motherly love, she welcomed Katjina's affection with open arms.
