This is Ellie, the Elephant. How cute is he? He was abandoned and left all alone. His herd had rejected him multiple times despite efforts to integrate him back into the herd. This orphaned elephant needed to be rescued and nursed back to health. He needed a miracle.

The tiny guy arrived at the Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage in South Africa. He was critically ill, had very little chance of survival, and needed round-the-clock care. The staff did everything they could, even creating a special formula for him to drink because he was allergic to every kind of milk they tried to give him.

Elephants are notoriously difficult to hand-rear; as highly social animals they are usually brought up in herds where they have the support of their family. So for baby Ellie, life was extra challenging due to the fact that he was all alone. That was until the arrival of a German Shepherd named Duma.

The big change came when Ellie was introduced to his special canine friend, and it made all the difference in the world. These two are inseparable now, it's almost as though they have become a herd of their own. Duma changed the life of this baby elephant and now he is on the road to a full recovery. Watch the video, below, and enjoy seeing the relationship between Ellie and Duma!
