There are few things on the earth as majestic as a horse. Whether they are wild and running free through the plains, or they have been tamed and are easy to ride, horses have a certain strength and beauty to them that is unmatched by other animals. One horse, named Buddy, was no exception.

Buddy was a beautiful Appaloosa horse who enjoyed running and playing all day long. He had a playful attitude and was eager to meet and interact with new people. Everyone who met Buddy left the encounter with a smile on their face.

Despite his lively nature, as Buddy got older, he started experiencing a few setbacks. He started feeling pain in his eyes and no one could figure out what was wrong. After tests were finally performed, Buddy's family realized that he was going blind.

Vision, of course, is of paramount importance to any living creature, but especially to horses. Horses' eyes are much bigger than any other land-dwelling creature. And because their eyes are on the sides of their head, horses are able to see 360 degrees around.

With his eyesight failing, Buddy would be at a severe disadvantage when it came to his quality of life. But, that did not rob him of his excitement for life, and Buddy made the best of the situation. As the days went on, however, Buddy's sight vanished completely and he had to learn to cope with his disability.

Because Buddy was such a goofy and fun-loving horse, he tried to be brave when it came to his new life. But, as days went on, Buddy became more skittish around anyone and everyone. Because he could no longer see, new noises scared him. Buddy started suffering from severe panic attacks and his owners knew he needed help.

Heartbroken as they were to give him up, Buddy's owners took him to Catskill Animal Sanctuary. Buddy's family wanted him to have his best shot at life and they knew the workers at the sanctuary were the best hope he had. Buddy had no idea that his life was about to take an amazing turn. The video on the next page will show you just how far Buddy has come. CLICK "NEXT PAGE" TO READ THE REST OF THE STORY...
