Albert is a Selkirk Rex who was rejected as a show cat and found a good home as a pet where he is loved. Albert is named after Albert Einstein because his hair is crazy just the same as Einstein’s hair!
The Selkirk Rex is one of the newest naturally occurring breeds of cats, as the very first Selkirk was found in an animal shelter in Montana in 1987. The first Selkirk Rex was a female kitten that was adopted by Jeri Newman who bred Persian cats. When the kitten, Miss DePesto, was old enough she bred the cat to a black Persian and the first litter of Selkirk Rex was born!
Albert is famous on Instagram for his evil looks. This cat is definitely beating grumpy cat in the looks department! With his smoke colored coat and the dark eyeliner around his eyes he is very good at looking quite mean! Albert has built himself an Instagram following under the perfect name for him - Pompous Albert.
Pompous Albert has also been praised for his Instagram captions that are always perfect! His captions are very good at denoting this office cat’s view of the world and how this grandiose cat should be treated.
He was even given the opportunity to star in his very own Honda commercial! The ad featured Albert in a variety of costumes and situations!
