The mountains can be a dangerous place, between predators and the elements. It’s even more dangerous when you can’t eat or defend yourself at all. In the cold mountains of Maine, a Pit Bull named Blue learned this lesson in the most horrific way possible.
In October of 2015, Blue was found with his mouth taped shut as he wandered the mountains. The tape had been on his face so long that when rescuers found him, they were forced to give him emergency surgery. Even once he was freed from the tape and the immediate problems, it took months of care and reconstructive surgery to his face and lips in order for him to be a normal dog again.
It didn’t take long after his story got out for adoption applications to flood the shelter as people hoped to take the pup home. After combing through the hundreds of applications, they found him his perfect forever home. Luckily, his new owner loves to share adorable photos of the pup on Instagram for everyone to see!
Blue never let the horrible circumstances sour his attitude toward people, and this amazing boy found the kind of home he deserves. Although he still bears the scar from his ordeal and no one will ever forget what this sweet boy went through when they look at him, he doesn’t care.
