In 2011, when firefighter Marc Hadden received a call about a woman having severe abdominal pains he had no idea his life was about to change forever. When he and his crew arrived on the scene, they realized that those abdominal pains were actually labor pains and it was apparent that baby was in a hurry to enter the world. With no time to get to the hospital, Hadden realized he would have to deliver the baby in the back of the ambulance.
“It was a pretty serious call for us,” he said “We got her on some oxygen, started some IVs and, literally, as we were getting ready to leave the parking lot in the ambulance, my partner said, ‘We’re about to deliver a baby right here.'” Before Hadden knew it, he was holding a beautiful little girl in his arms.
Hours after her delivery Hadden learned that the new mother planned on putting the baby up for adoption. He talked to his wife and, two days short days later, they took their sweet baby girl home and named her Rebecca Grace.
She goes by the name of Gracie, meaning “unmerited favor.” So cool! A few months later, the Haddens officially adopted her, completing their family!
Grace is now a beautiful five-year-old girl who loves gymnastics and soccer. She knows her birth story well and proudly shares it with others. She has two older brothers, Parker and Will, who adore their little sister.
Her parents say her adoption perfectly completed their family. Marc still serves as a firefighter, but on a volunteer basis. Watch this sweet video, below.
