As Jono grew up he learned that some people were not as accepting of him as his new mother was. Jono was severely bullied because of his appearance. Because of the bullying and rejection Jono dealt with for most of his young life, he struggled with depression and began acting out.

When Jono turned 25 he attempted to contact his biological parents so he could reconcile with them. Jono was only met with more rejection from his parents saying they had no interest in meeting him and they did not want him to try to reach them. Jono was broken hearted once again. Instead of letting this rejection break him, however, Jono decided to use his pain to change the way people viewed him and others like him.

Jono began to view himself in a positive light. He rejected the negative stigma that had been placed on him and began to seek out ways to better himself. Jono began working out, that motivated him to focus on what he could control and stop trying to change what he couldn't. Jono decided it was time to take his message of positivity to the world.
