It never ceases to amaze me just how many things can be done with old, seemingly useless home items. Whenever you get all the use you can out of a particular item, it's human nature to toss it in the trash. If we take the time to step back and think about it, more often than not, our waste can be repurposed for a greater good!

While all waste evidently would not fall into this category, much of it does. One item that is a complete gem for DIY-ers is an old, reclaimed door. For crafting, it doesn’t matter if the door is completely functional or not. The more rugged and used it appears, the better! This project is one that is unbelievably gorgeous and insanely simple to accomplish. After one look I instantly fell in love, and I have a feeling that you will too!

To make this gorgeous repurposed door, you'll need painter's tape, black matte acrylic chalkboard paint, roller paint brush, white matte acrylic chalkboard paint, matte indoor/outdoor sealant, a piece of chalk, strong-hold hairspray, and a stencil of your choice.

First, you'll want to bring your door to a well-ventilated workspace. Lay the door on a workbench and wipe off any dust or debris that might be on it. Use your painter's tape to cover the border of the door.

Next, use your roller paintbrush and the black matte acrylic chalkboard paint to cover the front of your door. Let the first coat dry completely before applying a second. Check out the following page to see how the final product looks!
