When life gets hard, there are few friends that stick by you closer than your pet. Whether you have a dog that knows exactly how to make you smile or cat that simply curls up in your lap to provide comfort, pets seem to make everything better. A young boy named Tupper can testify to this statement.
When Tupper was born, he was a healthy baby, full of life and joy. His parents were overjoyed to welcome him into the world and Tupper melted the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. As Tupper got older, however, his parents noticed some odd behaviors.
As Tupper's behaviors became more concerning, his parents decided to take him to a specialist to see if they could figure out what was going on. The doctors soon knew the cause of Tupper's odd behavior. At a very young age, Tupper was diagnosed with autism.
Even with his diagnosis, Tupper was still as lovable as ever but his parents had to take special precautions in order to keep him safe. One of Tupper's biggest struggles was his sleep schedule. Because of his autism, Tupper had terrible nightmares every night.
Because of his nightmares, Tupper was only able to sleep for 20 to 45 minutes at a time. This, of course, led to exhaustion and frustration for Tupper. Tupper's exhaustion, paired with his autism also led to emotional fits. Sometimes it was rage and other times it was sadness.
But, Tupper's parents loved him so much and refused to let their son struggle the rest of his life. They looked at many different ways to help improve Tupper's quality of life. There were therapy sessions and other methods but nothing seemed right. That is until one day, Tupper's mother seemed to have found the perfect solution.
One day, Tupper's parents drove him to an animal shelter near their home. As Tupper walked in, he was amazed by all the animals he saw. Then, out of a backroom walked a big white dog. The dog walked right up to Tupper and sat down. The dog's name was Lego and he was about to change Tupper's life forever. The video of Tupper and Lego on the next page will leave you smiling.
