Lost And Blind Squirrel Is Found By Unlikely Best Friend And Gets A Second Chance At Life
I think it is safe to say that I am not the only one who thinks that all animals should be given the best life. Whether it is a dog being adopted from a shelter or maybe a fox that needs help finding his way home, every single animal deserves a helping hand. The family dog in this story obviously felt the same way when he found an unlikely friend in his backyard.
One day, a family Basset hound decided he needed to get outside a stretch his legs. He went out his doggie door and down the stairs of the porch, into the yard. After basking in the sunshine for a few moments, the dog started exploring the area around him. Nothing seemed to be out of place but the dog did notice something moving around in the grass, near a tree.
The dog moved closer to investigate and came face to face with a small squirrel. The little squirrel had been separated from his mother and was frightened and confused. The family dog took pity on the squirrel and brought him inside the house for the family to see.
The family was not at all surprised that their dog had brought something into the house. Apparently, he had a habit of doing so. They were surprised, however, that what the dog had brought them was still moving. The family took the squirrel from the dog and inspected him. They realized that the squirrel was partially blind which is why he had gotten lost. The fall from the tree had also injured the squirrel's spine.
Because of his blindness, it would have been unwise to release the squirrel back into the wild, for fear of him injuring himself permanently. The family decided the best thing to do was to adopt the little squirrel. The dog that had found the little squirrel was ecstatic and couldn't wait to tell the rest of the family pets.
It did not take long for the squirrel to make himself right at home with the other animals. Soon the squirrel was acting like he was the king of the house and he had no problem letting the other animals know it. The squirrel even had the audacity to hitch a ride on the family dog's back most days. The dog didn't seem to mind one bit.
The little squirrel may have started out life lost and confused but when he fell into that yard that day, he had no idea he had fallen into the perfect family. From his special bond with the family dog to his hilarious shenanigans around the house, it was safe to say that the squirrel had found his forever home.
