Meet The Newest Baby Giraffe!

As America waits in great anticipation for April the giraffe to FINALLY give birth, our neighbors across the pond in the United Kingdom have a giraffe who beat her to the punch.

After four hours in labor, eight-year-old Orla just gave birth to a five-foot-tall rare Rothschild's giraffe calf.

The calf was born at the Chester Zoo in the United Kingdom.

"The world may be waiting for April the giraffe to have her calf over in America, but Orla has beaten her to it," Sarah Roffe, Chester Zoo giraffe team manager said in a recent statement.

Seriously, is there anything cuter than a newborn giraffe? I think not!

Footage was captured of the birth, showing the calf drop six feet to the ground.

"Although it might be quite a drop and they may fall to the  ground with a bit of a thud, it's how giraffe calves arrive into the world and it stimulates them into taking their first breaths," Roffe stated. "That whole process, from a calf being born to it taking its very first steps, is an incredibly special thing to see."

As far as our American giraffe, April, goes, zoo officials at the Animal Adventure Park in New York say that she could give birth at any time now.

"She is big, udders are full, light discharge---aaaaaannnndddd that's it! She looks and is acting great," the zoo officials said in a recent statement.

We're cheering you on, April!
