There are few things in life that are as breathtaking as wild animals; they are fierce, strong, and absolutely stunning. While we might not all make it to the safari of our dreams, we can head over to a local zoo and see exotic animals in natural habitats. Thankfully, with zoos spread throughout the world, everyday people have the opportunity to marvel at majestic wild animals.
While wild animals are simply stunning, their young tend to be even more breathtaking. New life, in itself, is simply a miracle, but in the animal world, it’s a true wonder. Many times, zookeepers and attendees alike anxiously await the birth of a new animal.
At a sanctuary in South Carolina called Myrtle Beach Safari, a beloved animal had all staff and animal-lovers on the edge of their seats awaiting a highly anticipated birth. The lucky parents-to-be were a white lion and white tiger. Both strikingly gorgeous and rare, the two majestic animals were the talk of the town.
Currently, there are about 300 white lions and 1,200 white tigers in the world. Due to the rarity, many people actually believe them to be mythical creatures. So, while it’s clear that they exist, it’s unlikely that they would be found in the same animal sanctuary in South Carolina. And I’m sure you can imagine the shock that filled the air when it was learned that they were expecting a cub.
While the animal sanctuary staff followed the pregnancy, they were greeted with another huge surprise; the tiger wasn’t just pregnant, she was pregnant with four cubs! Enthusiasm filled the air and, finally, after much anticipation, the “Liger” cubs finally made their arrival.
Odlin, Samson, Yeti, and Apollo were born every bit as beautiful as their parents. Their fur was a soft blonde and their eyes were the color of a glacier. The cubs also have their mama's epic markings across their backs. To say they’re beautiful is an understatement.
I can’t wait to see how these exquisite animals grow up. One of the only drawbacks to this brilliant offspring is that it’s unlikely that the majestic animals will ever be able to reproduce. Until then, we will just have to appreciate the beauty that they carry!
Check out these absolutely adorable hybrid cubs! They are every bit as cute as they are majestic!
