With the Holiday Season fast approaching, it's time to begin gathering gifts for all your friends and family. If you're anything like me, you've got a rather long Christmas list and, if you procrastinate too long, you'll find yourself dreadfully overwhelmed. It’s almost too much to bear: the thought of spending an astronomical amount of money on presents that your friends and family may or may not even like in the first place. It's quite a conundrum, but it's a situation we face every year.

Personally, I have mostly females on my gift-buying list and, when I give a gift, I want to make sure it is uniquely-tailored to each recipient. To do so, I find it easier to make gifts instead of perusing every aisle of every department store. This year, I've come across the perfect DIY that my gal-pals are going to adore! For this project, you'll need silver beading wire, floral scissors or wire cutters, needle-nosed pliers, glass gemstones, multi-surface acrylic paint in various colors, small paint brushes, clear fingernail polish, and jewelry clamps.

First, take a paper plate and pour a small amount of the paint you'd like to use for coloring your gemstones. Turn the gemstones flat-side-up.

Grab a paintbrush and gently dab one color of paint on each of the gemstones. While the paint is still wet, grab another brush for the second color of paint and dab that on as well.

Place in an oven-safe pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Once they are cool enough to touch, cover the painted area with clear fingernail polish. Check out the following page to see how to take your freshly decorated jewels and turn them into beautiful pieces of jewelry!
