The media have gone into a full-on feeding frenzy since the recent announcement that Prince Harry will marry American actress, Meghan Markle. Since hearing the news of their engagement, millions of people have rejoiced alongside the happy couple. Up until just hours ago, there was no date or venue planned, but with some special strings pulled, the date and venue his now set!

Queen Elizabeth II of The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, has offered up her personal home for the wedding of her grandson, Prince Harry and his fiancée, Meghan. That’s right, the two will wed at the home of The Queen, in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

That name might sound familiar, since it’s been the site of more than 15 Royal weddings, including Prince Harry’s father’s wedding to wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles. While it’s not unusual to marry on family property in the “common world,” it’s very rare that The Queen herself would offer up her personal home. Her reasoning behind her gracious gift? She is proud of her grandson.

Over the years, rumors have swirled around the relationship between The Queen and the young prince. For much of Harry’s adolescent life, he was known as a “Wild Child,” and his rebellion created bad press for the Royal Family. The Queen, however, always had a soft spot for Harry. Because of the tragic loss of his mother - Princess Diana - in 1997, Harry was left without a mother at a very young age; The Queen was quite aware of the impact the loss of his mum had had on the impressionable young lad, and it saddened her to watch him yearn for attention all through his life.

So when the time came that Prince Harry had someone he wanted to introduce to his grandmother, she knew it was serious. The Queen and Meghan get along quite well, and both the prince and his grandmother feel a great sense of peace about the relationship. The Queen says she is thrilled for her grandson and his future wife and is happy to share her home on their big day.

Just today, the official statement was released that the wedding between Prince Harry of Wales and Meghan Markle will take place in May of 2018 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Queen has confirmed that the ceremony will take place in her home, and plans for the event will begin immediately.

Talk about a generous wedding gift! In just about six months’ time, the world will be watching the second Royal Wedding to take place at the gorgeous and prestigious Windsor Castle! May can’t come soon enough for me but, until then, Prince Harry, Meghan, and The Queen will enjoy the holidays together. To see an interview of the happy couple, check out the video, below!
