Rescuers Were Called To Rescue An Opposum From A Fence. When They Arrived They Realized It Was A Family Affair
At some point in each of our lives, we all require a helping hand. Whether it is from our best friends or family members, we all need people in our lives that are there for us through thick and thin. The same can be said for animals. Every single creature on the planet needs help sometimes, whether they want to admit it or not.
Sometimes, however, a helping hand can come from the most unlikely source. When the animal kingdom and humankind cross paths, the opportunity to help each other often presents itself. This was the case when animal rescuers were called to help an opossum that had gotten stuck in a fence. When rescuers showed up, however, they realized more than one life was going to be saved that day.
One day, rescuers were called to a very peculiar scene. A large opossum had gotten stuck in a fence in a residential back yard. Opossums normally prefer to dwell in wooded areas which are close to a water source but are highly adaptable to most climates and environments. So, it was not a total surprise to see an opossum so far from the woods. She was probably looking for a safe place to hold up for the night.
The rescuers approached the opossum carefully, so as not to frighten her. She was wedged between the ground and the bottom of the fence, so the rescuers did not want the opossum to injure herself. The only odd thing was that it was in the middle of the afternoon, and opossums normally move around after dark. The rescuers determined that the opossum must have tried to get through the previous night and been stuck there for some time.
Knowing that the opossum had been stuck for at least half a day, the rescuers worked quickly to get everything they needed in order to free her so that she could go find food and water for herself. After a few moments, the rescuers had everything they needed to help transport the opossum back to the woods. Putting on their gloves, just in case the opossum felt like putting up a fight, the rescuers bent down to attempt to free the opossum.
They approached from the front first, so the opossum could see them coming. The opossum began to struggle against the fence, so the rescuers decided to approach from the back instead. But, when the rescuers got to the back of the fence, they realized that the mother was not just fighting for her own life, she was fighting for a much greater cause.
