After rescuing an elephant calf, workers at the "Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Center" worked quickly to get their new baby to a safe environment. Once they had him safely back at the shelter the workers faced the hardest question: Would their new friend find the strength to feed?
Being rescued from a hostile environment does not automatically fix the problem. Many animals are unsure what to do in their new environments and are too timid to eat. Or they have been through such trauma that eating is the last thing on their mind.
The baby elephant needed the motivation to get up and moving because if he didn't, survival would be all but impossible! Fortunately, the workers at the shelter had a secret best friend for the elephant that they were confident would help him recover!
