This is an incredible story about one amazing teacher. I have always wanted to be a teacher and recently made the decision to go back to school. I am studying to be an elementary school teacher and can’t wait to be in a classroom.
When Mrs. Bleur found out what was going on in Camden’s home she was compelled to do something to help. Camden’s father, Darreld Petersen, 34, was very sick and in need of a kidney transplant because his kidneys were functioning at only 20% capacity. That’s when she decided to contact the dad.
Mrs. Bleur decided she wanted to help the family in any way she could but went above and beyond what anyone would expect from a kindergarten teacher. She offered Camden's dad one of her kidneys. Miraculously, she was a perfect match!
“I was really excited about it. I was ecstatic. I don’t know what I would’ve done for closure if I wasn’t [a match],” she says.
Camden’s dad was shocked by Camden's teacher's extraordinary gift. She would be saving his life. “It’s just amazing. There are people waiting every day for a kidney, for an organ in general. I wish there were more people like her. She’s giving me a second chance at life,” Darreld said.
Mrs. Bleur went above and beyond the call of duty as a teacher and, because of her selfless act, she saved her student’s dad’s life. She needs to win the "Teacher Of The Year” Award.
