When the weather is nice, one of the most enjoyable things to do is to sit outside and watch the sun go down. What’s not to love about a cool, gentle breeze blowing about as the evening light fades? There’s simply nothing better! With the absence of sun comes the presence of bugs, however, and no one enjoys that. When you turn on porch lights, it’s as if you’ve created a magnet for the little critters! You soon learn: the less lighting, the better.

One way to continue enjoying the sweet solace of the great outdoors after dark, is by using solar lighting. Because of their subtle glow, bugs don’t seem to be a bother around them. The one downside of solar lights is that they aren’t very visually appealing. They tend to be simple and quite plain.

If you’re anything like me, you prefer having your lighting as a focal feature in your yard. When I came across this tutorial, I knew I had discovered the perfect option for my outdoor space! Using affordable Dollar Store solar lights, mason jars, and some glass stones, you can create a stunning lighting display in under five minutes. Not only are these luminaires ideal for porch-sitting, but they would also be a perfect addition to any wedding, family BBQ, or other outdoor gathering. Check out the video, below, to see how to make these adorable lights!
