Love is a phenomenon that has been known to influence us in sometimes extraordinary ways; it can cause us to dream bigger, laugh more, do more, and even do things that are completely out of our normal character.
Recently, one love story is sweeping the world: Prince Harry of Wales’ engagement to American Actress Meghan Markle. While everyone from Alaska to Australia is talking about it, there are two people who are exceptionally moved by it; two people who happen to be very iconic: The Queen of England and her husband of 70 years, Prince Philip.
The Queen, known for her grace and inconspicuous personal life, has spent her 93 years in the spotlight as one of Britain’s most iconic faces. She has been known as studious, stoic, and simple. Since her coronation in 1952, Queen Elizabeth has always maintained her poised composure.
She married her love, Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, on November 20, 1947, at Westminster Abbey in London, England. 70 years later, The Queen’s popular grandson, Prince Harry, announced his engagement. While The Queen has always been somewhat reserved, the recent news of her grandson’s happiness rekindled, in her, an innocent love and romantic reminiscing.
With The Queen’s whimsical feelings resurfacing so close to her 70th anniversary, she made a shockingly-out-of-character request. She scheduled a photo shoot to recreate her own engagement picture of herself and her darling husband. The photo shoot, shot on royal grounds, effortlessly captured the timeless love of The Queen and her Prince.
Once the pictures were developed, The Queen released one of the best, sending millions of her supporters into a frenzy. It was so rare to see Her Majesty sharing something so personal but, of course, that’s what the “love bug” will do to a girl!
Since the photos were released, love has only increased within the Royal Family: The Queen and The Prince are living in a young lover’s dream, the newly-engaged Prince Harry and Meghan are planning a wedding for May 2018, and Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess Of Cambridge, are expecting baby number three in April of 2018! It’s safe to say that love is in the air for the Royal Family and we couldn’t be happier! Here’s to a future full of joy and love!
