Theo is a beautiful Schnoodle - a mix of a Poodle and a Schnauzer - who lives with his doting owner in New Jersey. He is spoiled-rotten there, and one of the most beloved dogs we’ve ever had the good fortune to see. He loves to nap in the sunlight, relaxing and just feeling the warmth soak into his skin. He also loves his tennis ball, and any day he gets to spend in the sunlight with his ball is the best day ever, in his opinion.

Although Theo’s life sounds like a dream now, the first years of his life would be easily considered a nightmare. As a young pup, Theo was found abandoned in the fields of Texas. While they can never be sure why he was left to die, they suspect it was as a result of all the medical problems.

When Theo was picked up by Animal Control, they found he was suffering from two tick-borne illnesses, an upper respiratory infection, and he was in horrible shape. The infection and diseases had ravaged his body and, combined with the starvation he’d been enduring, he was weak and in very poor health. Theo was so sick that he was placed on the euthanasia list for “mercy” reasons, meaning he was so sick they felt it was a better decision to euthanize him and make room for healthier dogs.

Luckily for Theo, a rescue called Tracy’s Dogs stepped in to save his life. Tracy’s Dogs is a rescue organization that pulls dogs from overcrowded rescues in Texas, and ships them up north to waiting families! They took Theo in, and slowly helped him regain his health! While they could restore Theo’s physical health, they couldn’t help this sweet and frightened boy learn to trust again.

During the first few days in his new home, Theo was quiet and nervous, unsure whether or not this was going to be his forever-home. As he adjusted to his new home and life, he began to reveal his true personality. His family began to see how playful their new pup truly is, and discover all of his odd quirks - like his preference for blue tennis balls over the green! Although the start of Theo’s life may have been full of fear and uncertainty, the rest of it is sure to be full of love and happiness.
