When I was growing up, I was afraid of dogs. My neighbors had a pit bull that seemed mean and he always scared me. One day I went over to the neighbor's backyard to get a ball I had lost and the dog appeared out of nowhere. I was terrified as the dog approached, but he didn't attack. Instead, he started licking me in the face. I discovered that day that dogs could be the friendliest things on the planet. The dog in this story wanted to be a police dog, but apparently, he was just "too nice."

When Gavel, the dog, first entered the police academy, his hopes of achieving his goals were high. Over time, however, his trainers noticed something that would keep him off the police force. Gavel was deemed "too nice" to defend the front lines. Police dogs had to have a certain instinct to them, and Gavel only wanted to socialize with everyone.

With his dreams of the police force shattered, Gavel wasn't sure what to do next. Luckily for him, his owner had a much different plan for him. Gavel belonged to the Australian governor and when his owner heard about Gavel's failure at police school, he set to work on getting Gavel a job that would better suit his personality.
