When She Was Thrown From Her Horse, Woman Was Moments From Death. It Was Up To Her Furry Companion To Save The Day [VIDEO]
It has always been said that dogs are man's bet friend. When I was young, our family dog, Apollo, seemed to prove that on a daily basis. One day, when I was in the back yard, I fell and hit my head. The result was a concussion, so I had to stay in bed for a few days. Apollo was there, literally every hour to make sure I was ok. There has always been something innate in dogs that makes them do incredible things.
That was definitely the case with 4-year-old Australian Shepherd, Becky Jo. Becky Jo's owner, Tracy Metkea, loved to ride horses. She also loved taking Becky Jo with her on long rides. One day, Tracy took a new colt out on a trail run and Becky Jo went with her. During the ride, something on the trail spooked the young colt and it took off running wild.
Tracy slipped from the saddle and was tangled up in the stirrups on the side of the horse. The colt dragged Tracy for half a mile through rocky trails. When Tracy finally fell free from the horse, she had multiple injuries, including a concussion and a fractured skull. There was no one around for miles, except for Tracy's dog, Becky Jo.
