10-year-old Julia is deaf. She and her 7-month-old puppy, Walter, became instant best friends upon meeting.
Walter was the very last dog in his litter to be adopted from the Pasadena Humane Society in California. There was something different about Walter that made Julia's mother, Chrissy, realize that he was a perfect fit for their family.
What was it that made him so perfect? Walter was born deaf, just like Julia.
Chrissy said that when Julia was a baby, she would smell her neck because she couldn't hear her mother talking. When Chrissy first held Walter, he did the exact same. That was the moment she knew it was meant to be.
"I remember just looking at him, and I knew that he was meant to be ours," Chrissy said.
"He was initially overlook by people who were not looking for a dog who couldn't hear," said Jamie Holeman, an employee of the Pasadena Humane Society where Walter originally lived.
