13 Year Old Boy Went To A Sleepover, Only To Be Killed On His Birthday In A Hate Crime

March 14, 2018

Corey Johnson, 17, of Jupiter, Florida, has been arrested on one murder charge and two attempted-murder charges following a sleepover that turned deadly. Johnson had been spending the night at a friend’s home in Ballenisles Country Club, at the home of his friend Kyle. Before going to sleep that night, Johnson and Kyle had watched violent jihadist videos together.

At 4 am in the morning on Monday, March 12, 2018, Johnson snuck around the home to begin his slaughter. He decided to attack Kyle’s mother, 13-year-old brother, and his brother’s friend while they slept. Around 6 am that morning, Kyle’s mother, Elaine Simon, heard what sounded like moaning upstairs and went to investigate.

As she went up the stairs, Johnson attacked her, stabbing her more than a dozen times and sending her stumbling back down the stairs. The 13-year-old brother, Dane, raced to defend his mother and was brutally stabbed 32 times. Upstairs the friend, 13-year-old Jovanni Sierra had been stabbed, and his throat had been slit.

When the police arrived, Johnson had barricaded himself in one room of the house. He was taken into custody at 8 am that morning. Police found Jovanni Sierra dead in the home, the only life that Johnson had been able to successfully claim.

When asked why he committed the crimes, Johnson said that Dane had “made fun of” his Islamic Faith. Jovanni, who died on his 13th birthday, had referred to celebrities as “gods.” Elaine Simon had known Johnson for years and was shocked by the outcome, but the FBI admitted they had investigated Johnson previously for “alleged violent tendencies” that they had learned through intelligence gathering.

This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world after a horrible time like this, so check out the video below!
