2-year-old Dakota Ray was in the care of her paternal uncle until she was kidnapped on April 15, 2018. Dakota was taken away from her parents, William and Jessica, because of a history of meth use.

William convinced his brother that the Department of Social Services was going to give him back custody of Dakota after he passed a clean drug test. They decided to meet up on Sunday with Dakota, to give the two a chance to reconnect.

William’s brother left to grab food, and William took advantage of the situation, kidnapping little Dakota. Police believe he is now traveling with

Dakota’s mother, Jessica, and the child in a stolen vehicle.
The pair were spotted on Tuesday morning at a gas station in North Carolina by a tipster. William was caught on security cameras inside of the store, and the tipster photographed the van and license plate to turn over to police.

They were seen driving a beige 1996 Ford Aerostar Van with a South Carolina license plate of LMU 173. Please call the police immediately if you spot this vehicle!

William is described as white, standing 6' 1" and weighing 340 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Police have not released a description for Jessica, but from her prior mugshot,s she appears to be caucasian with long blonde/brown hair.
