A tragic car accident occurred on Monday, March 26, that sent an SUV over a cliff on the Pacific Coast Highway, where the car landed upside down on the rocks below. When police originally searched, they found the bodies of two women and three children, but police are now wondering if that was everyone involved. The children in the accident were not wearing seatbelts and had been thrown from the vehicle during the crash.
As police investigated, they began to fear that the families three other children were in the vehicle at the time as well. Police have now begun searching the ocean for any signs of the children or their bodies in a heart breaking attempt to bring peace to their extended family. One of the children who is missing, Devonte Hart, was internet famous after a photo of him hugging a cop during the Ferguson protests went viral.
Police have since revealed that Child Protective Services had been attempting to visit the household for days before the accident, but were unable to get a meeting with the family. According to the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the “now deceased children were identified as potential victims of alleged abuse or neglect.” At the scene of the accident, there was no sign that the car had tried to break or stop, leaving people to believe that perhaps this wasn’t an accident at all.
This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world at a time like this, so be sure to check out the video below!
