Kenny served on the board of directors for the Nashville Songwriters Association International, where his dedication earned him a reputation as a devoted supporter of songwriters everywhere. When he was born, his name was Kenneth Guy Gist Jr., but when he moved to Nashville in 1969, he changed his name to O’Dell because it was easier to pronounce. This wonderful musician will be sorely missed by everyone who has ever had the wonderful opportunity to listen to one of the songs he wrote.
