9-Year-Old Girl Held Hostage, District Attorney Refuses To Prosecute Kidnapper

April 02, 2018

Last weekend, 36-year-old Anthony Azumah was arrested on charges of acting in a manner injurious to a child, unlawful imprisonment, obstruction of governmental administration, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Azumah faced these charges after police found him keeping a 9-year-old girl hostage in his home on Park Avenue near East 187th street.

According to police, the girl in question was held at the home from 8:30 pm to around 11:30 pm. Police have yet to reveal if Azumah knew the girl, but have stated that he did not have custody of her. The 9-year-old had run away from her home according to law enforcement.

The Bronx District Attorney has since declined to prosecute the case, saying that they do not believe there is enough evidence to gain a conviction. Police will continue to investigate the matter, and hopefully, all of the details in this case will soon come to light.

This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world at a time like this, so be sure to check out the video below!
