On Monday, February 26, 2018, Rome was covered in snow.
After the country was covered in white, all schools and transportation took the day off to enjoy the rarity of the weather. This is the first snowfall for Rome in six years and locals and tourist alike are in awe at the beauty!
As a popular tourist destination for many people around the world, Rome really delivered on its beauty! To see the Roman Colosseum dusted with white snow is simply breathtaking! The city’s brown architecture was beautifully complemented by the soft white snow.

While the snow in Rome is absolutely beautiful, it appears that city wasn’t totally ready for the snowfall.
As a children’s playground in Piazza di Santa Maria Liberatrice, a tree buckled under the weight of the snow. Thankfully, no one was hurt since the children stayed home from school!
It appears the snow weighed heavily on the tree… Thankfully, no one was hurt since the schools were closed that day and many locals stayed in. See the damage below!
