16-year-old Amy Yu from Pennsylvania has been missing since March 5, 2018, when she disappeared from Allentown. They believe that she voluntarily left with 45-year-old Kevin Esterly, whom she had developed a private relationship after meeting at church. Yu and Esterly are believed to be on the run together, and police now believe the two are headed to Mexico or may even already be there.
Yu and Esterly had been carrying on a private relationship for some time it would appear. Yu had even altered her school records to list Esterly as her step-father. From December to February 9, Esterly signed Yu out of school early ten times. This situation was discovered on February 9 when Yu’s mother arrived to pick her up from school and discovered that she had been signed out already.
When the school discovered that Yu’s mother was a single mom, an investigation was immediately launched into the situation and they quickly learned that Esterly had signed her out. Yu was then interviewed by the Leigh County Child Advocacy Center where she denied having a relationship with Esterly.
Esterly’s wife claims that he had withdrawn $4,000 from her bank account, and had taken his personal documents and car with him when they disappeared. Yu’s mother reports that the teenager’s personal documents, jewelry, and some money were also missing from her residence.
Yu is described as weighing around 90 pounds and stands 4 feet, 11 inches tall. Esterly weighs about 185 pounds and stands 5 feet 9 inches. Police believe they may be driving a 1999 red two-door Honda Accord from Pennsylvania with license plate KLT 0529. Anyone who sees the couple or believes they have seen them, they are urged to call 911 immediately, their local police, or the Allentown POlice at 610-437-7751.
