Police are on the lookout for seven-month-old Jody Minjarez who has been missing from his family home since February 19. While police didn’t originally classify the case as one deserving the status of Amber Alert, they upgraded the status on March 7, as they now fear that Jody is in danger.
Jody was taken from his mother on February 19 by his father, Victor Manuel Minjarez, who had assaulted his mother and then fled with the young infant. On February 23, Jody’s mom secured an Emergency Victim Protective order that demanded Jody be returned. When Victor received the protective order, he sent a text message to a friend asking them to pass a message along to Jody’s mom, saying that she would never see her son again.
Victor Minjarez fled the scene on February 19 driving a rented U-haul pickup truck with an unknown license plate, but he is now believed to be driving either a light blue BMW four-door sedan or a white 2008 Cadillac Escalade with Oklahoma license plate 128KNQ. Victor is believed to be staying in the Oklahoma City area, and most likely is staying in a motel or with a friend.
Victor is described as a 31-year old Hispanic male, who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds and with black hair and brown eyes. If you spot Victor or have any information about Jody’s disappearance, call 911 or the Norman Police Department at 405-321-1444.
