The Briones family never could have imagined that January 13, 2019, would be the last day they would see their daughter. As any typical 16-year-old would do, Aranda Briones made plans to spend the evening hanging out with some of her friends at a local park in Moreno Valley, California.
Her friends said that she was dropped off at Moreno Valley Community Park during the evening, but the more local police have investigated, the more suspicious the story has become.
Aranda’s brother, Daniel, spoke with news outlets and said that that the cops had checked the surveillance videos from the park and they do not match up with what her friends have stated. “They pulled footage, and they don’t know if the time was wrong, but it looks like nobody was dropped off between 6 and 6:30,” he stated.
He even told sources that he and Aranda had a very close relationship, rarely keeping secrets from one another, so he found it rather peculiar that she never once told him of her plans to go out that evening. “That’s why it’s so out of the ordinary because she wouldn’t just go somewhere without telling me,” he told sources.
Aranda’s uncle, Matthew Horstkotte, also voiced his concerns with local news outlets. “She did have a bad choice of friends, I’ll be honest, you know everybody does. Everybody makes mistakes, but you know one thing I want? I just want her home safe.”
He continued with an urgent plea for her friends. “Nowadays, you know, teenagers want to cover up for a friend or someone says, ‘I don’t want to tell because I’m scared.’ But just come forward.”
Some of the friends that have been questioned state that Aranda was last seen getting into a grey sedan. Upon hearing this information, the family said they didn’t know anyone with a vehicle like that, making them even more uneasy.
If you or anyone you know has a lead to the location of Aranda Briones, you are urged to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department immediately at 951.486.6700. Aranda is said to be 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown hair and hazel green eyes.
Please spread the word so that Aranda can be safely reunited with her family!
