Harry And Meghan Surprisingly Paid Homage To One Royal Tradition When Introducing Baby Archie To The World But Only The True Royal Fans Took Notice

May 08, 2019

Today feels as though it were Christmas morning for devout royal fans. We finally got the grand opportunity to see Baby Sussex for the very first time!

The world has been wildly buzzing about the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s child since the moment we found out they were expecting. When news broke that in the early hours of May 6, 2019, a beautiful baby boy was born, it was almost more than anyone could stand.

It’s been so exciting not only to wait with grand anticipation to see the little one but to also Prince Harry finally become a father. His excitement, joy, and giddiness over having a son was better than anyone could have ever imagined.

On May 8, Harry and Meghan followed through with the 70-year tradition of presenting their newborn to the world for the very first time. Unlike the other royals before them, they opted to forego introducing their child just hours following his birth and waited two days to adjust to life a little more as a family of three before parading around in front of the media.

The wait was well worth it and the beaming mother and father were over the moon to show off their precious blessing. The Duchess looked radiant in a tailored white dress and the Duke looked equally as dashing in a crisp suit and tie. What stole the show - for extremely obvious reasons - was the littlest royal.

What only eagle-eyed royal fans noticed in the introductory images was another tradition Harry and Meghan opted to follow. The Sussex family have been known to stray from any set family rules when possible, so it was even more obvious when fans noted just what they did choose to do.

The baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was wrapped tightly in a G.H. Hurt & Son shawl, a brand that has been used in the family for generations. The style the Sussex family chose to use was the Leaves and Flowers Baby Shawl in white.

The company was undeniably honored to have them choose to represent their brand for another little royal. The director of the company, Richard Taylor commented to the press: “All the staff here at G.H. Hurt & Son were delighted to see the Royal couple emerge at Windsor Castle today to present their newborn son wrapped in our traditional hand-finished shawl.”

He continued: “We feel so proud and honored that Harry and Meghan have chosen our beautiful merino wool lacy knitted baby shawls and in doing so have continued a royal tradition now going back over 70 years.”

We are so happy to see that both Mama Sussex and Baby Sussex are thriving and healthy. We can’t wait to see more of sweet little Archie in the future!
