I know people say that dogs are man’s best friends, but I strongly believe that cats could tie for that title! You know what, I would even argue that there are some cats who could take that title, outright! Cat’s, by nature, are affectionate and self-sufficient. In fact, I feel as if cats don’t need us, but rather we need them and their unique love. I always think that cats are just as happy as can be on their own, but they can sense when we need love. They know when we need a cuddle as little pick me up.

One cat, in particular, went above and beyond her standard cuddly-cat duties. Stella, a single cat, was known for her tender and affectionate spirit. She was always spending her time loving on her owner, Mary, and making sure that everyone around her felt special.

One day, while Mary was out in the yard, she found a baby squirrel squirming on the ground. The poor squirrel seemed to have fallen from its nest and was lying helpless on the ground. The tiny creature was cold to the touch and seemed to be declining very quickly in health.

She was terrified that the baby wouldn’t make it and feared that she had been too late. She had never rescued an animal before so she was concerned for its safety in her care. However, in the midst of her insecurity, she knew that the baby squirrel needed her.

Mary knew that while she could offer the baby some food and shelter, Stella could offer genuine love and warmth. Mary said that Stella took to the new baby squirrel as if it were own kitten. She spent hours kissing it and wrapping it in her warm fur to make sure that it felt protected. The squirrel felt safe enough to sleep in Stella’s warmth and grew to know her as its mama!

I just adore compassionate animals! And if there’s anything that I love more than that, it’s unlikely animals showing compassion toward each other. This story melts my heart and fills my soul with joy. I am so in love with Stella’s unconditional love toward the baby squirrel!
