We hear it all the time, that love is one of the most powerful forces known to mankind. Love is a healing power that runs deep in the animal kingdom as well. A bird named Lemon proves this fact in a uniquely beautiful way, every single day of her life.
Lemon is a tiny lovebird with a big personality. When Lemon was younger, she had all her feathers and seemed like a healthy bird. Today, at three-years-old, Lemon has a condition called Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease, or PBFD. This disease causes all of Lemon's feathers to fall out and also affects her immune system.
Lemon's disorder is highly-contagious, so she has to be kept in quarantine, away from the other birds. Despite her condition and isolation, Lemon is still a happy bird and always seems to have a smile on her face. Lemon will not be alone for long, however, because she soon meets her new best friend and soul mate, Indi.
Indi is another lovebird who suffers from the same disease as Lemon. Indi hasn't lost his feathers yet, so his feathers are still a brilliant blue. Because of his shared affliction with Lemon, Indi shares his days with his featherless best friend. The two love each other inside and out and are practically inseparable.
As if Indi's companionship weren't enough, Lemon's featherless appearance starts to gain her some popularity online. Lemon's mom has set up an Instagram account for the unique beauty, and soon Lemon has thousands of followers commenting about how much they love her. Many people send Lemon hand-knitted sweaters and scarfs to keep her warm and fashionable.
Lemon spends her days eating and playing with her family and Indi. Her disease doesn't stop her from enjoying her life to the fullest, and the love she feels from her soulmate is exactly what she needs in order to thrive. We can all learn a lot about love and friendship from these lovebirds. Watch the video, below, to witness the love-fest for yourself!
