When one sister gets married, and a younger sister at that, there have to be some awkward moments when practical decisions are being made about what happens after.
Take, for example, living arrangements. Sisters and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been roommates for years, sharing an apartment at St. James Palace.
What many people don't realize is that, since the two princesses are not full time working Royals, they are responsible for paying rent for their accommodations. That tab has been picked up by their father, Prince Andrew, to the tune of £20,000 per year.
Now that Eugenie is moving out when she marries to Jack Brooksbank on October 12th, Beatrice would be left to live there alone.
And with the elder sister spending most of her time in Los Angeles for her job anyway, it seems like a colossal waste of money to keep the apartment. That is why Beatrice will be packing up and moving out along with her younger sister come Fall.
And with many Brits up-in-arms about the money that the Royals reportedly spend, this should silence some of them. Granted, £20,000 is not a huge number in the grand scheme of things, but it's is nothing to sneeze at, either.
More important, however, is that the gesture points to a conscientiousness on the part of Prince Andrew and his unwillingness to be frivolous with taxpayers money. I find this refreshing. How about you?
