Big things are happening at Disney studios. Just like they did with "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Jungle Book" the giant film company is determined to bring another favorite to the silver screen - but this time with live actors.
According to Deadline, "Lady and the Tramp" will debut when Disney launches its own streaming service in 2019." The service, much like highly-successful Netflix, will bring content to viewers on a subscription basis.
“Like many other movies involving animals who just so happen to talk (like The Jungle Book), the movie will be a combination of traditional live-action and CGI animation.
“The original opened in 1955 and followed an upper-middle-class American cocker spaniel named Lady who meets a streetsmart, downtown stray mongrel called the Tramp.
"And the two embark on many romantic adventures including the iconic spaghetti dinner scene.”
Who does Disney trust to give new life to the beloved classic?
“The Lego Ninjago Movie” director, Charlie Bean has been hired by Disney to direct "its live-action/CG adaptation of the animated classic Lady and The Tramp.”
This is one of my favorite Disney films and I cannot wait to see how they combine real actors with computer-generated imaging. One thing is for sure, though. If anyone can do it, it's Disney!
