Tim Bergling, the beloved international DJ known as Avicii, died on April 20th, 2018. He was 28 years old.
At only 28 years old, Tim had lived a life that many will only ever dream of; from international tours to Grammy awards, he had lived an extremely rich and busy life. His sudden death stunned the world, but in a heartbreaking statement, his family family confirmed that young Tim was deeply disturbed.
The family shared the honest and emotional sentiment with CNN:
Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most -- music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive.
For 6 days the cause of his death remained private, however, police were almost certain that there was no suspicion of foul play.
Tim worked with huge names in the music industry including Chris Martin of Coldplay and Madonna. His ability to exemplify music changed pop culture for so many, even though he was so young.
Tim didn’t do well with the constant events though- his family shared that his career began to take a toll on him. Those closest to him believe that he always struggling… and his mental and physical health only increased the pressure on his life.
On April 26th, 2018, his death was confirmed as suicide by an autopsy. His family is devastated with the news.
Please pray for his loved ones. Suicide can be so terribly hard for those left behind.
