Celebrities are no exception to this. One of Hollywood’s greats, 46-year-old mom Jennifer Garner, recently returned from an end-of-summer getaway with her eldest daughter, 12-year-old Violet. Little did she know that on this trip, their lives would be in danger.

Violet is about to head off to middle school this year, so, as any good mother would, Jennifer decided to have a fun mother-daughter getaway to celebrate the big upcoming milestone.

The two ventured off to Stockholm, Sweden, where they had some quality bonding time. One day, they opted to take a kayak adventure. Little did they know just what lay ahead on the trip.

While on the water, they both got caught up in the thrills and beauty of their surroundings. Before they knew it, they had paddled too far and were utterly lost. They made many attempts to try and find their way but continued to fall short.

As night was falling, they tried not to panic as they attempted to find their way out. Eventually, they had to call for help and be rescued. Jennifer detailed the entire ordeal on her Instagram account:

“On a pre-middle-school sneak away with my eldest...Did I get us lost in a kayak? Yes. Did we paddle as hard as we could for 100 hours and end up in a shipping lane? I’m afraid so. Did we have to be rescued? Yup.”

Thankfully, the mother and daughter duo had enough cell service to contact a rescue team to be assisted safely back to shore. The Kayak company also documented the unexpected emergency rescue on their own Instagram:

“Mattia, one of the champions of the Långholmen Kajak team, got a call from Jennifer Garner one evening. She was lost on the waters of Stockholm with her daughter in one of our double kayaks. Mattias got into a kayak of his own and started searching for them. Fortunately, he found them not too far away and was able to guide them back to our rental. Quite an adventure!”

While this certainly isn’t the kind of adventure she’d hope to have with her daughter, it was definitely one that brought them closer and gave them a story in which they can laugh about together in the years to come.
