Beloved TV Icon Dies At Home Surrounded By Family

April 18, 2018

62-year-old Dale Jonathan Winton passed away on April 18, 2018, in his home surrounded by his family. There has been no word released yet on his cause of death at this time. Dale was best known for his role as a host on Dale’s Supermarket Sweep.

Dale was born on May 22, 1955, in London, England to Gary and, actress Sheree Winton. Unfortunately, Gary Winton passed away on the day of his bar mitzvah leaving him to be raised by his mother.

In 1972, Dale started DJ’ing in Richmond clubs, where he befriended the LBC Radio presenter, Steve Allen. After that, he went on to take a handful of other jobs, such as selling timeshares abroad. In 1982, he returned to London where he began to DJ on weekends, which led to him to get a job at the United Biscuits Radio Network.

Dale worked on the United Biscuits Radio Network before moving to Radio Trent in Nottingham and then a variety of other radio stations. In 1986, he began his acting career on Pet Watch.

From 1993 to 2000, Dale hosted Dale’s Supermarket Sweep on ITV daytime. From his 1986 debut until his death, Dale has been credited with 93 roles on television shows such as You’ve Got The Answer, Hole In The Wall, The Other Half, and In It To Win It.

In 2000, this beloved star was even nominated for a National Television Award for Most Popular Entertainment Presenter.

In 2002, Dale wrote an autobiography where he spoke about his life. Some of the main themes he discussed in it included the effect his mother’s suicide had on him, as well as his rise to fame.

Please pray for Dale’s family and friends who will miss him dearly. This is one loss that will be felt not just by those who knew him, but by all who were lucky enough to hear his voice grace our radios or his face our on screens.

This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world at a time like this, so be sure to check out the video below!
