Benjamin Bratt is a beloved actor who has been winning over the hearts of his fans since he first graced our screens thirty years ago, in 1987. Ever since the first time he performed on television, people have been falling more and more in love with him. He’s since performed in a multitude of films, including "Miss Congeniality," "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," "Despicable Me 2," "Doctor Strange," and "Coco." 

Benjamin Bratt was born in San Francisco, California, on December 16, 1963. His mother, Eldy, was a nurse and his father, Peter Bratt Sr., a sheet metal worker. His parents were married in 1960, and he had three siblings, Georgia, Peter, and Nadya. When his parents divorced in 1967, he grew close to his paternal grandfather who was a Broadway actor.

During his time at Lowell High School in San Francisco, California, he was a member of the Lowell Forensic Society. After graduation, he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received his bachelor of fine arts in 1986. He was then accepted into the Master's program at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, but he left before receiving his degree when he was selected to star in the 1987 television film, "Juarez."

After Juarez, he was cast on the television show, "Nasty Boys," which aired on NBC and was based on the film. He rose to fame quickly after being cast to play Detective Reynaldo Curtis on "Law and Order." His work on the show was so amazing that he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Benjamin is extremely close with his brother, Peter, and they’ve worked on multiple projects together. In 1996, he wrote and directed a film called "Follow Me Home," and cast Benjamin as one of the main characters. In 2009, Peter wrote and directed another film, "La Mission, casting Benjamin in another part. In 2017, Peter wrote and directed another film, and Benjamin stepped in to help as a consulting producer.

In 2001, he fell in love with actress Talisa Soto, the love of his life. The two married on April 13, 2002, in San Francisco. The two had met in 1993 on the filming of "Blood In Blood Out" and had maintained an on-again-off-again relationship for the next ten years. On December 6, 2002, Talisa gave birth to their first child, a daughter they named Sophia Rosalinda Bratt. Three years later, their son Mateo Bravery Bratt was born on October 3, 2005.
