Parents and students of Mountain Home, Idaho desperately need your prayers today.
On Wednesday, December 12th, 2018, a suspicious email was sent to Bennett Mountain High School suggesting that a “potential act of violence” was on being planned for Thursday, December 13th, 2018. Without knowing too many details of the threat, the Superintendent, James Gilbert, alerted all parents.
Gilbert sent a message to parents letting them know of the dangers that their children would be in if they were sent to school on this day. The message was brief as was the threat. Given the threat, Gilbert decided that it would be best to close school entirely on Thursday.
Bennett Mountain High and Hacker Middle School were both canceled on December 13th as the two schools share a campus.
Gilbert contacted parents via Facebook and email to inform them of the threat. Parents were shocked to learn of the threat and shared the notice with on their personal Facebook pages.
As of 7:20 am MST on December 13th, 2018, there have been no reports of threatening activity. It is still likely that whoever sent the threat could act, so please keep the school, the students, and the staff in your prayers. Please keep whoever sent the original email in your prayers as anyone who would threaten a school is clearly disturbed.
