On August 22nd, 2018, Warner Bros. Television and CBS confirmed that the hit comedy television show, Big Bang Theory, was come to an end. The last episode will air in May 2019.
Big Bang Theory has been on the air for 11 years. With more than 50 awards, the show’s 279 episodes have served fan’s quick-witted comedy needs with brilliant dialogue and character development. Once May 2019 comes around, and the show is finished, Big Bang Theory will officially be the longest-running multi-camera series in television history!
Fans have fallen for the character’s unique personalities and extensive research in less than common fields. The characters are played by Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch.
A majority of the cast is heartbroken when responding to the show’s ending. Kaley Cuoco, perhaps the most famous female lead in the show, was asked if she couldn’t imagine her life without Big Bang Theory. She replied: “I actually can’t, to be honest…I can’t really picture it. And I don’t think there really will be my life without it — I think it’ll always be there, I think it’ll always be running, I think we’ll always have those fans. It’s always going to be a part of me.”
However, there was one cast member who was not heartbroken over the show’s cancellation. He’s believed to be the one actor that promoted the show’s ending.
Jim Parson’s, the show’s leading actor, had desired to leave the show behind. According to Entertainment Weekly, CBS had hopes of two more seasons- but Jim Parsons was against the idea and said he was ready to walk away altogether. Since his character, Dr. Sheldon Cooper, was the star of the show, it would be impossible to continue without him.
Jim or his team have not commented, but the Big Bang Theory networks and producer made sure to comment on the matter with gratitude by sharing: “We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of the Big Bang Theory during the past 12 seasons. We, along with the cast, writers, and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and the series finale, that will bring the Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close.”
The final series premiere will air on Monday, September 24th on CBS before airing during its regular time on Thursday, September 27th. The final episode will air in May 2019.
