1. William James “Bill” Pullman was born on December 17, 1953, in Hornell, New York. He was the sixth child of James Pullman, a doctor and the city coroner, and Johanna, a nurse. He attended the State University of New York at Delhi after graduating from Hornell High School in 1971. He then went on to attend the State University of New York at Oneonta. From there, he moved to the University of Massachusetts where he eventually received his Masters of Fine Arts degree.

2. Bill taught theater first at the State University of New York at Delhi, before moving to Montana State University’s School of Film and Photography. There, he was persuaded by his students to try and become an actor. In fact, one of his students was John Dahl, who is now a famous director who has worked on some rather famous television shows, including "Breaking Bad," "Dexter," and "House of Cards." When John Dahl directed the film "The Last Seduction," he cast Bill to play one of the main characters.

3. He has no sense of smell! When he was in college, he was involved in an accident that resulted in a head injury. He was working on an improvisational version of an Ibsen play, and everyone was climbing all over as they made scenery out of each other. He fell backward, hitting the back of his head on the ground and landing himself in a coma for two-and-a-half days. Luckily, the only long-term effect of that fall was the loss of his sense of smell.

4. Bill has acted in over 90 television shows and movies throughout his 31-year long career. Some of his most well-known acts include "Lake Placid," "Casper," and "Independence Day." Although he has yet to gain the attention of some of the larger award ceremonies, he’s no stranger to awards! He’s received seven awards for his wonderful work, including a CinemaCon Award, the John Cassavetes Award, and the Excellence Award.

5. In 1987, he married the love of his life, a modern dancer named Tama Hurwitz. The two have been together ever since, and it’s clear that they were always meant to be. Together, they have three children that he adores. They live part-time in Whitehall, Montana, on a cattle ranch he co-owns with his brother.
