For the second time in three years, a famed television icon has taken a nasty fall at his home. The first one, in October of 2015, he ended up with an open head wound requiring stitches. This time, when the 94-year-old took a tumble, he wasn’t taking any chances and paramedics were called out to his Hollywood Hills home.
According to TMZ, the ubiquitous 'Price is Right’ host fell but did not require stitches as he did last time. Now we are learning that it may have been due to a prior injury.
Other news outlets are reporting that TV star Bob Barker hurt his back in his most recent fall but did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. He was admitted to Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
We expect to learn more in the coming days but, regardless of the reason, his fans are wishing him a speedy recovery, and to “beat whatever he is fighting.”
Amid conflicting reports of the nature of his emergency, Access is reporting that this is his second trip to the hospital in two weeks.
Barker began his show business career in 1950 when he traveled from his home state of Washington to Los Angeles to pursue a career in broadcasting.
He became a household name in 1956 when he became the host of ‘Truth or Consequences’ a game show that ran for 18 years. He then moved on to ‘The Price is Right’ in 1972, where he remained host until his retirement in 2007.
One of his most memorable film appearances was in the Adam Sandler comedy, ‘Happy Gilmore,’ in which Barker portrays himself. He engages in a hilarious fistfight with Sandler over their pairing in the fictional Pro-Am golf tournament.
All of America - and no doubt the rest of the world - wish Mr. Barker a quick recovery and hope he can return to his home very soon. Please join us in praying for the beloved Hollywood star.
Please enjoy this hospital 'reunion' between Sandler and Barker.
