Four months after a devastating accident changed their family forever, Olympic Skier Bode Miller and wife Morgan welcome a son, again altering the face of their family - this time with an air of joy.
The Millers, who lost their 19-month-old daughter Emeline Grier in June of this year, have been in deep mourning ever since. The little girl had fallen into a neighbor’s pool, unnoticed, and died as a result of drowning.
Now, even though the pain of Emeline’s loss is still raw, the Miller family finally has a reason to rejoice. On October 5th, exactly one month before little Emmy would have turned two, Bode and Morgan welcomed their fourth child, a boy, into their heartbroken family.
On their Twitter page, Today reports:
“A little light in the darkness for Bode Miller and his wife, Morgan. The couple welcomed a baby boy into their family four months after losing their beloved 19-month-old daughter in a tragic accidental drowning.”
Morgan’s midwife at the birth of the newest little Miller described the spiritual and moving moments around his birth.
“The little one — the couple hadn't decided on a name yet — was born at home in a birth pool, just like Emmy was nearly two years ago,” according to midwife Lindsey Meehleis.
"Exactly one month before Emmy's 2nd birthday...the sun rose and they knew this day would be different,'' Meehleis told TODAY. "An overwhelming feeling of joy started to fill a valley of deep grief and sadness.
"While nothing will ever replace the feeling of aching arms to hold Emmy again, this baby provided something new this day: joy, inspiration, and hope."
Please join us in wishing the Miller family all the best as they welcome their new little boy. And pray that his blessed arrival will help to begin the healing that is sure to take a very long time.
