Austin, Texas, has been home to a recent rash of bombings in the last few weeks by what is now being called a “serial bomber.” The most recent attack on Sunday, March 18, sent two people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are concerned because the bomber is escalating from simple package bombs to more elaborate and sophisticated tripwire bombs.
Austin Police have since set up a dispatch line where people are urged to call if they believe they have a suspicious package or believe they may have information about the bomber. They have since been inundated with phone calls that have been overwhelming their police force as they attempt to respond to every call. The nearby San Antonio Police Department has now stepped up to do everything in their power to help Austin, and are sending two bomb technicians and a trained K9 officer to help as well.
The bomb techs and K9 will remain in Austin as long as they need them, but San Antonio will not be left undefended as their other two bomb techs and K9 will be remaining behind. Austin Police are hopeful that they will be able to bring this situation to a quick end with the help of the public and their watchful eye. If you have any information about the case, please contact the Austin Police department immediately!
